That election is a Bible doctrine cannot be disputed. It is so thoroughly and prominently biblical that it would be impossible to remove this doctrine from the Scriptures without every page falling out of the Sacred Volume.
That it is a glorious doctrine is equally obvious to all who are taught of God. Election is a work performed by the God of glory. It lifts sinners from the darkness, destruction, doom, and death of sin into "the glorious liberty of the sons of God". It reveals the glorious grace of the triune God. And, ultimately, all men shall see that it is for the glory of God, "to the praise of the glory of his grace".
Election is glorious:-
1) In its origin - It began with God. In eternity, before the world began, God chose the people to whom he would be gracious.
2) In its cause - Search the Scriptures. Try to find a reason why God chose the people whom he chose. You will find none but this:-"I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious". The only cause of election is the will of God.
3) In its character - Gods choice of his people in Christ was an act of his sovereign freedom, unconditional love, and immutable grace. Those whom he chose before the world was made, he will never reject or cast away for any reason.
4) In its purpose - God chose us to make us "holy and without blame before him!" What a glorious, gracious purpose!
5) In its position - Election is cited as Gods very first act in the catalog of grace. None can deny election without denying redemption, forgiveness, regeneration, faith, and perseverance. All these things come to us "according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world".
6) In its objects - Wonder of wonders, God chose me! Read I Corinthians 1:26-29 and 6:9-11, and give praise to God for his electing love!
7) In its end - Election puts the crown where it belongs, on the head of our Savior and gives glory to whom it is due, the God of all grace, declaring, "Salvation is of the Lord!"
